PGCIL Trainee Qualification
- Essential Qualification: Full-time Three years LLB or Five years integrated Law/LLB course.
- Minimum Marks: 60% marks or equivalent CGPA for UR/EWS/OBC(NCL) candidates. For SC/ST/PwBD candidates, the minimum is 45%.
PGCIL Trainee Age Limit
The upper age limit for POWERGRID Officer Trainee (Law) is 28 years as of 5.12.2025.
Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms:
- OBC (NCL): 3 years
- SC/ST: 5 years
- PwBD: 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST
PGCIL Trainee Salary Details
The compensation package is highly attractive:
- During Training: Basic Pay of Rs. 40,000/- plus IDA, HRA, and perks. The approximate CTC is Rs. 11.0 Lakhs per annum.
- After Training: On successful completion of training, candidates are regularized as Officer (Law) in the E-2 scale (Rs. 50,000 – 1,60,000 IDA). The approximate CTC after regularization is Rs. 22.5 Lakhs per annum, which includes Basic Pay, PRP, leased accommodation/HRA, and other perquisites.
PGCIL Trainee Selection Process
The selection process is multi-stage and heavily weighted on the CLAT 2026 score.
- CLAT 2026 (PG): Candidates must appear for CLAT 2026 and secure the minimum qualifying marks (40% for UR, 30% for Reserved categories).
- Shortlisting: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted category-wise based on their CLAT 2026 scores for the next stages.
- Group Discussion & Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will undergo GD and Interview.
- Final Merit: The final merit list will be prepared based on the following weightage:
- CLAT 2026 Score: 85%
- Group Discussion: 3%
- Personal Interview: 12%
